Alaska is a U.S. state in the northwest extremity of North America, just across the Bering Strait from Asia. The Canadian province of British Columbia and territory of Yukon border the state to the east and southeast. Its most extreme western part is Attu Island, and it has a maritime border with Russia (Chukotka Autonomous Okrug) to the west across the Bering Strait. To the north are the Chukchi and Beaufort seas—southern parts of the Arctic Ocean. The Pacific Ocean lies to the south and southwest.

Alaska is located in the north-western part of Canada. Alaska is the largest state of the United States by area. As you can see on the given Alaska state map, it is non-contiguous state situated extreme north-west of North America continent.

Map of Alaska clearly demarcates that the state shares boundary with Canada in the eastern side; Pacific Ocean lies southern side, and Arctic Ocean lies on the northern side of the state. The Bering Strait in the western side separates it from the Russian Federation.

Alaska is the 49th state of the USA constituted in 1959; in fact, it was the territory of Russia but in the year 1867 USA purchased. Most of the part of Alaska has Arctic Climate which is totally unfavorable for the human habitat. This is one of the reasons that Alaska is sparsely populated state of the USA. About half of the residents of Alaska live in the Anchorage southern coastal metropolitan area. Juneau, situated in the south eastern part of the state is the capital city of Alaska.

At Husky Homestead in Denali National Park, your family can actually visit, pet and hold Alaskan husky puppies! Jeff King, who raises the puppies, proudly educates visitors on how his adorable pups are named and raised to be champion sled dogs. It's a truly heartwarming experience the kids will never forget. The Mt. Mckinley situated in the almost centre of Alaska is the highest peak (6194 m) of North America continent. It is the peak of Alaska Mountain Range. Alaska map discernibly shows the state has the longest coastline even more than all states of the USA collectively. The states economy largely depends upon the natural resources i.e. Petroleum and Natural Gas. Some % of state revenue also comes from sea fishing. Since, this is mountainous state and has adverse climatic condition; therefore the rail and road are not well developed. Nevertheless, the populated cities have developed roadways and railways. Airways, which is the only medium to communicate with the other mainland states of the USA has frequent service. However, the other stuff materials have been transported thorough sea-roots.

The US State Alaska occupies 1,477,946 m², about 16,16 % of the total territory of the USA of 9,148,020 m². The total population of the US State Alaska with 739,795 inhabitants (in 2017) has already increased by 18 % in this millennium. Almost 40 years ago there were 337,944 fewer people. The capital Juneau alone has 32,164 inhabitants.

If you're thinking of going on a road trip directly to Juneau, note you can't drive into the city. You can only fly or ferry in. Forty-one percent of the state's population lives in Anchorage.

It is the largest U.S. state by area and the seventh largest subnational division in the world. In addition, it is the 3rd least populous and the most sparsely populated of the 50 United States. The United States purchased Alaska from the Russian Empire on March 30, 1867, for 7.2 million U.S. dollars at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km²). The area went through several administrative changes before becoming organized as a territory on May 11, 1912. It was admitted as the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.

Alaska is known under different nicknames; aka Land of the Midnight Sun, or Land of the Noonday Moon, or The Last Frontier (used on license plates), or Seward's Folly (named after U.S. Secretary of State William H. Seward), or Seward's Ice Box, Icebergia, Polaria, Walrussia, and Johnson's Polar Bear Garden were satirical names coined by members of the U.S. Congress during debate over the Alaska Purchase and detailed official information about Alaska can be found on the homepage at www.alaska.gov.

The Water Quality Index is 63. A measure of the quality of an area’s water supply as rated by the EPA. Higher values are better (100=best). The EPA has a complex method of measuring the watershed quality, using 15 indicators such as pollutants, turbidity, sediments, and toxic discharges. The Superfund Sites Index is 93. The Comfort Index (higher=better) is 87, where higher values mean a more pleasant climate. The Comfort Index measure recognizes that humidity by itself isn't the problem. (Have you noticed nobody ever complains about the weather being 'cold and humid?) It's in the summertime that we notice the humidity the most, when it's hot and muggy. Our Comfort Index uses a combination of afternoon summer temperature and humidity to closely predict the effect that the humidity will have on people.

Its important to note that this is not the average (or arithmetic mean). The median home price is the middle value when you arrange all the sales prices of homes from lowest to highest. This is a better indicator than the average, because the median is not changed as much by a few unusually high or low values. The property tax rate of $13.09 shown here is the rate per $1,000 of home value. If for simplification for example the tax rate is $14.00 and the home value is $250,000, the property tax would be $14.00 x ($250,000/1000), or $3500. This is the 'effective' tax rate.
